Just caught the new
Iron Man movie with
Robert Downey Jr. and it is truly awesome !
Robert Downey Jr. is cast perfectly as the play boy
Tony Stark who has a rude awakening to the implications of his chosen profession. The movie updates Iron Man's origins to be more relevant to current events. Captured in Afghanistan while on a weapons demonstration,
Tony Stark builds his mark 01 suit in the depths of an Afghan mountain with the help
Yinsen in an origin very close to the original comic series.
Terrence Howard plays
Jim Rhodes, Tony Starks close friend and army liason.
Gwyneth Paltrow is a great
Pepper Potts while
Jeff Bridges as
Obadiah Stane is truly inspirational. The resemblance to the comic book character is great even with the divergence of Stane being part of Stark Enterprises instead of a rival company works well.
Jon Favreau as "Happy Hogan" was fun but shame "Happy" did not get more air time.
See if you can spot
Stan Lee as Hugh Hefner.
The learning curve that
Tony Stark/Iron Man had with the mark 02 and 03 suits were great as we did not see this in the comic series, which made it interesting in the progression of the suit designs and Tony's testings getting used to the suit's capabilities.
Iron Monger was a great foe... looking forward to the next picture and hopefully Warmachine will get an appearance.
Only gripe is what was the thing with
Agent Phil Coulson and where was
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury ? Anyone got any ideas ? Love to hear.
