A Debate on Toy Collecting and the Toy industry hosted by Toy Geeks with Retroblasting and Toyguru Spector Creative

Prelude to the great Toy Collecting Debate

Manage to come across this interesting event on Youtube few days back. First time experiencing a debate on this area and since I do follow both channels Retroblasting as well as Spector Creative

I like the areas Michael from Retroblasting and Scott Neitlich of Spector Creative cover in their channels. One is more from a fan point of view and another is with some insights to how the industry works having experience working in the industry.

Great initiative from Jay and John at the Toy Geeks channel.

Unfortunately seems like dark forces were at work, and Scott had real serious issues with his internet connection and kept dropping or not really being audible. If you want to skip to the good stuff you might want to check the time stamps and skipped to around 26 min mark.

The funny thing is that I just caught one of Scott's video the previous night where he added a segment with a Lego engineer coming to check his internet connection. At that time I had not seen this video so did not catch the reference.

Finally the great toy debate begins

Anyways once Scott got onto his wife's machine, the fun really started. It was quite amazing the amount of preparation that both Michael and Scott had done for this. Both were using specific time frame references of each other videos and calling their points on them. Covering everything from the recent Haslab Sentinel knee issue, MOTU conspiracies and more especially the nature of what is considered as "facts".

As much as you may not agree with some or all the points of either side, you should respect that they are passionate about toy collecting and their love for it. Each passion has two or more sides or views. There may not be a true "correct" way to express that passion, but as long as it does not promote hate or aggression, each to their own. Discussion is good and hopefully each side has a better understanding of each other and can unite to further the toy collecting community.

Post Debate

Final shout out to the great referee Jay, who kept the proceedings cordial and on track.

Great post debate video as well. All the analysis on the big smack down event.

If you didn't catch these great session, do take a moment to view them especially if you are a toy collector.
