The US team this round gave some of the best matches in this years World Cup in South Africa. With some of the team playing in some of the best clubs in the BPL and Europe like Landon Donovan, Tim Howard, Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey, they seem to absorbed the playing styles and skills that made the team perform so well against the traditional stronger sides.

USA and South Korea out Ghana and Uruguay move on

The battle for the next phase of the World Cup is now on. First casualties are the US and South Korea.  After a good fight, both teams bow out but they can stand proud as rising footballing nations who will definately be ones to watch in future tournaments. Players like Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Carlos BOCANEGRA, Jozy ALTIDORE, Tim Howard, Jonathan SPECTOR, Michael BRADLEY, Jozy ALTIDORE for the US and for Korea, PARK Ji Sung and LEE Chung Yong, they can hold their heads high as they have set a new standard for thier countries.

They have provided some of the great and exiting matches in the tournament. With such rising talents, the old guards have better watch out.

Ghana the last great African hope for this tournament have definately risen from the background to take their place in the footballing world. With key talents like Asamoah GYAN, Stephen APPIAH, Matthew AMOAH and Kevin Prince BOATENG, Ghana is cultivating it's self to be a key footballing nation.

USA inspired come back !

An inspired never give USA team came back from a 0:2  score line during half time to equalize 2:2 against Slovenia in a much more thrilling match up then England vs Algeria.

A superb goal from a crazy angle from Landon Donovan brought them back into the game with an equalizer from Michael Bradley bringing them square on with the Slovenians and possibly putting them in contention for the next round.

Tim Howard made some remarkable saves to keep the US team's hope alive.

Compared to the uninspired England team's performance against Algeria. I'm so glad I went to bed instead of waking up to watch the match. England seems to have a lot of names but not much team to really be truly this year's World Cup winners.

Tonight sees one of the most anticipated face off in this years World Cup in South Africa, USA vs England.

Clint Dempsey scores the winning goal in the USA warm up vs Turkey

With the World Cup just around the corner, the US team got a boost in the friendly with Turkey when then won 2-1 with the winning goal scored by Fulham's Clint Dempsey. With a clean pass from Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey blitz the Turkish defence to score the decisive winning goal.

Clint Dempsey almost had a second goal under his cap when he got a beautiful pass from Michael Bradley which unfortunately found the post.

Fulham European Fairy Tale Story

The latest step for Fulham in their bid for European qualification, moved them closer to their European dream by beating Hamburg 2-1 yesterday.  With leading scorer Bobby Zamora hitting his stride and  Hodgson reaping the rewards for building a well knit team, Fulham seems sure to get into the Europa League this year. Nice to see some of the other clubs doing well outside of the BPL.

Burnley is now a strong supporter in Fulham's corner for they are the next sure ticket for the Europa League, as they are well placed in the fair play table especially if Fulham defeats Atletico Madrid on May 12th.
