Finally Marvel Legends Ant-man arrives in Penang

Finally the Marvel Legends Infinite Series Ant-Man Ultron BAF set is out in Penang ! Of course the main draw was Scott Lang, Ant-man with the Janet Van Dyne, Wasp figure. 

Shame that we didn't get a Henry Pym Ant-man figure in the set, too but may be that is something they are saving up for the Ant-man 2 movie.

The Ant-man pack comes with the 6 inch Marvel Legends Scott Lang movie version of Ant-man. Also included is the mini version of Ant-man and Yellowjacket and of course Ant-thony the flying ant that Ant-man rides on in the movie.

Spider-man and Peter Parker get Marvel rulebook

 Saw this post from The Hollywood Reporter with great interest. Apparently Marvel has issued a new set of strict guidelines on how Spider-man and Peter Parker can be depicted on screen.

Just to clarify Spider-man and Peter Parker are actually 2 different characters.

Spider-man has mainly been Peter Parker, Ben Reilly (actually a clone of Peter Parker) and Miles Morales, the half-Black, half-Latino Spider-Man from the Ultimate Universe.

Spider-man must be:

• Male
• not a homosexual
• does not torture
• does not kill "unless in defense of self or others" 
• doesn't smoke or abuse alcohol, sell or distribute drugs
• does not have sex before the age of 16 or with anyone below that age

Peter Parker on the other hand is defined as :

• Full name : Peter Benjamin Parker
• Caucasian 
• Straight
• gains his powers while attending either middle school or college - so there is some room for age variance
• Has to be raised in Queens, New York

Obviously Marvel is protecting its intellectual property.

Interesting clause for Spider-man though :

"If Marvel has portrayed that character as a homosexual" then it is OK to portray him as such.

Are they lining up a new story arch where Spider-man is homosexual ?

I think that would ruin the character.

Its a good thing for Marvel to set up these guidelines since studios seem to be playing fast and loose with our favorite characters. Marvel themselves have been guilty of that too, looking at the latest versions of our classic heroes. I know they are trying to move with the times but if it is not broken don't mess with it.

Question on everyone's mind is will the new version of the Fantastic Four work or will it suck ?
Without Marvel's backing and changing the composition of the team members, is it going to be too much for fans and the general viewer alike?

Guess we will have to see the final product to make our minds up if the new Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm aka Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and Thing are up to the mark.

Not forgetting Victor Von Doom our classic Fantastic Four villian Dr Doom!

Spider-man Hobgoblin BAF series Daredevil - best Marvel Legends figure yet!

The new wave of Marvel Legends Infinite series features Spider-man foes and friends with the Hobgoblin BAF.

One of the figures in this wave is a cool new sculpt for Matt Murdock Daredevil in his famous red suit. This sculpt is by far superior to the earlier versions from the original Spider-man pre-Marvel Legends Toybiz era and the TRU Face Off two pack version, and even the Nemesis BAF series too.

The only thing missing in this wave is a unmasked alternate head or variant figure for Matt Murdock.

Marvel Fantastic Four reboot movie second trailer

The Fantastic Four reboot movie second trailer is out!

Get more glimpses of the FF and the movie story line.

Still got some doubts on the characterizations for our favorite Marvel first family.

Will have to wait until the movie comes out before I give my final judgement on how Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben turn out. Will the younger Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing breath new life to this series? Will Dr Doom be as cool a villain ?
Stay tuned.

Unfortunately for collectors, looks like there will be no toy figure tie-ins for this movie.
