Le Blur France goes out to Mexico
A very lack lustre French team went out to a more cohessive Mexican side, in a game which the former World Cup winners never showed the sparkle that made them world champions before. And what is Thierry Henry doing on the bench ! Maybe rumours of disquiet within the team has some merit as they never seemed to play as a team, with wild individual shots at goal and some appalling free kicks.
Au revoir France...
Now that the Mexican side needs a draw with Uruguay will we see a lack lustre match with both teams going for the draw which will take both to the last 16 ? We shall see...

England my England - Ode to Robert Green and the World Cup
England my England
Oh how you fare
For Football is a team game
Tis not one person to solely blame
Yes poor Robert Green
Did let it slip through his hands
That wild shot from Patrick Dempsey
From the New World
Called the US of A
Yes old Steve Gerrard did score the first shot
Into goal
And gave England the lead
But 10 good men
With HUGE reputations
Of skill and history
Did have lots of time to put right
The wrong that Green made
Where were the goals ?
Did they exert the dominance that Germany showed
Against Australia
In a similar David vs Goliath arena ?
Step up step up
Football is a team game
All are to blame
If you did not win the game
So fast you forgot
All the good saves
That he has made
When Green saved your butts
Now you wish to put the blame
Solely on one man
Tis tis
Shame on you
Get your heads out of '66
And into the 2010 game
The Lions of BPL
We still have not heard you roar...

Brazil vs Peoples Republic of Korea
Australia can learn a lot about not being intimidated by a higher ranking opponent and giving all you got from the Peoples Republic of Korea as they held off the Brazilian team ranked No 1 in the FIFA rankings. Being the 105th ranking team, they were expected to be steamed rolled by the "superior" Brazilian side. But the PRK team came out with guns blazing and have put up a good fight frustrating the Brazilian team at every corner. Until half time the score has been 0:0. Maicon managed to score the first goal just after half time but the PRK team are not lying down to give up yet and are still attacking the Brazilian goal.
Brazil has shown some of their usual flair but I feel they are looking for that great impressive out of the box goal rather then passing the ball to get into a position to score the goal. Unlike the German side which exhibited more cohessive playing with precision passing and more mechanized game, it will be interesting to see what happens if these two meet up. Brazil has not shown the dominance of the No 1 ranking team.

German Football machinery overwhelms the Australians
The German soccer machinery seems well oiled and ready for this World Cup with an extreme display of team work and great passing in today's match against Australia. Firing off their World Cup opening match with a resonding 4:0 victory against Australia, they served notice that they are ready to take back their crown at this World Cup.
Australia was simply out classed and the sending off to Tim Cahill with an immediate red card was just the nail on the coffin.

Argentina vs Nigeria World Cup match up
Nigeria has a tough task ahead facing the previous world champions Argentina in todays match up. Nigeria has some experienced players in
Joseph Yobo
but will they be able to stand against the onslaught of Argentinian talent like
USA vs England David vs Goliath World Cup match up
Tonight sees one of the most anticipated face off in this years World Cup in South Africa, USA vs England.
Can the US team pull another "Miracle on grass" and recreate a major upset as before ? Previously the US team consisted of mainly semi-professionals. Now the US team consist of some formidable players like :
Landon Donovan who has been playing with Everton and Bayern Munich
Clint Dempsey has been playing for Fulham
Carlos Bocanegra who has also played for Fulham
Seems like a lot of Chelsea players in the England squad ...but that is for a differrent discussion.
An truely hot match up highly anticipated by football fans everywhere.
