Strange things can happen when you mess with magic !
October 21st every year is designated as Wonder Woman Day to celebrate this DC comics Justice League Amazon warrior. Looking back at some classic issues I found on my wonderings, it's amazing how she has changed. The stories in those days were some times really out there.
Wonder Woman has grown over the years and had several costume changes but her spirit always remains. Always willing to help man kind.
Marvel Legends Captain America and Iron Man are immortalized in pewter by Royal Selangor with a cool significant comic cover as a back drop. Captain America jumps out of his first appearance in Avengers #4 while Iron Man does his superhero entrance as the back drop of The Invincible Iron Man #96
Worse then someone breaking into your bank account, worse the having no electricity, no facebook, no instagram, no Whatsapp ! Civilization is at an end !
HOLY MOLLY ! I never imagined toy collecting could be so complicated ! Recent I had a chance to catch the great debate with Youtube channel Retroblasting and Spector Creative Toyguru. Little did I realize that I was going down a rabbit hole into the darker side of Toy collecting and Youtube.
Today I came across Junkman's video above and was truly shocked that this "feud" seems to be snowballing out into other channels as well. Namely Analogue Toys and some extent Joefan82. Guess we should not be so surprised since Youtube is just another microverse of the world we live in, and obviously human beings being human, bring their personalities on to the platform too.
What is the beef ?
Seems like something said was not taken well, something done or not done and probably a lot more. I will not profess to be aware of all the facts, but from what I have seen from the videos included here, it would seem to be some conflict of personalities and strong views on certain aspects. Sad to see that this may be setting up camps and forcing folks to take sides.
I believe both sides have valid view points and also it may be the impression of the situation from their side of the fence that is also causing so much friction. Each presents the situation from their perspective and may not present the full picture. You can only form your own opinion based on what they have presented and your values and perspective. I would urge fans of the channels to take a step back and not add to the fire, but rather try to understand both sides of the story, and help them to move on from this. If everyone just jumps in to support one side or the other, and start throwing "stuff" at the other party, then this will just go down an ugly spiral.
Hopefully all parties can just go back to focusing on toy collecting and move on from this. Remember toy collecting is suppose to be enjoyed and an outlet from the harshness of the world. If we are bringing all the harshness of the world into toy collecting then it just destroys the whole community..
I started down this dark universe rabbit hole with Retroblasting few months ago, and the hole seems to be widening. Let's get back to toy collecting.
Manage to come across this interesting event on Youtube few days back. First time experiencing a debate on this area and since I do follow both channels Retroblasting as well as Spector Creative,
I like the areas Michael from Retroblasting and Scott Neitlich of Spector Creative cover in their channels. One is more from a fan point of view and another is with some insights to how the industry works having experience working in the industry.
Great initiative from Jay and John at the Toy Geeks channel.
Unfortunately seems like dark forces were at work, and Scott had real serious issues with his internet connection and kept dropping or not really being audible. If you want to skip to the good stuff you might want to check the time stamps and skipped to around 26 min mark.
The funny thing is that I just caught one of Scott's video the previous night where he added a segment with a Lego engineer coming to check his internet connection. At that time I had not seen this video so did not catch the reference.
Finally the great toy debate begins
Anyways once Scott got onto his wife's machine, the fun really started. It was quite amazing the amount of preparation that both Michael and Scott had done for this. Both were using specific time frame references of each other videos and calling their points on them. Covering everything from the recent Haslab Sentinel knee issue, MOTU conspiracies and more especially the nature of what is considered as "facts".
As much as you may not agree with some or all the points of either side, you should respect that they are passionate about toy collecting and their love for it. Each passion has two or more sides or views. There may not be a true "correct" way to express that passion, but as long as it does not promote hate or aggression, each to their own. Discussion is good and hopefully each side has a better understanding of each other and can unite to further the toy collecting community.
Post Debate
Final shout out to the great referee Jay, who kept the proceedings cordial and on track.
Great post debate video as well. All the analysis on the big smack down event.
If you didn't catch these great session, do take a moment to view them especially if you are a toy collector.
Marvel Legends AI Iron Man vs Civil Warrior from Contest of Champions
AI Iron Man and Civil Warrior from the Marvel Legends Shang-chi Legend of the ten rings movie Mr Hyde BAF wave are interesting takes on our heroes. The alternate head for the AI version of Iron Man gives multiple possibilities as it also seems to fit well on other bodies. Especially cool with Doctor Strange. Giving the astral plane look a bit of blueness.
Civil Warrior from the game Contest of Champions can be viewed as a Captain America clone but his design and the customized shield is pretty cool. Makes for a great alternate reality What If Civil War.
